Final Projects Part 1: Imaging

Project 02: Subject Study
This project is continued from the previous post. We first had to make and edit the interview (video in last post) then create a knowledge map using the imagery from the video we made. I think its 26x39, and it folds up like a road map, which we had to keep in mind while designing it. Working along the folds and such, so that when you open it, it tells the story in some sort of sequence. I focused a lot on the connection between making cookies and being an asian american. And I even got hello kitty into one of my projects!

Its pretty much as big as I am...

This was due on a Friday, and after our critique we thought we were done, but then kermit surprises us and tells us that we have to create a back for the knowledge map to turn in on Monday. "Fast and Furious" he called it. We all grumbled all weekend about it, but I actually like the way mine turned out. We were supposed to take the feedback we had gotten on the front of the map and keep that in mind while designing the back. For the front of mine I focused a lot on the abstract similarities of making the cookies and being an asian-american, and not so much on the story. So for the back I added more of what grace had said in the interview (but things that werent in the video) so they were brand new for the viewer. Then I added the cookie crumbs to connect the front and back.

Project 03- Activity Scenarios
This project was so fun. We were put into groups, and then assigned an activity category (work, leisure + play, home, or learning). We got leisure + play! The best one. Then we had to choose a baby face (small piece of technology like ipod, iphone, PSP, DS, etc) and come up with an application for that technology regarding our activity, and then create a stop-motion video showing how it works. Since we had leisure + play, we had a LOT of fun with ours, and our application was a sort of satire.
Basically, you use the iphone to record someone dancing, and then the application recognizes the dance and translates it into dance steps. The user then sends those dance steps to a friend where upon seeing them the friend must instantly start dancing no matter what they had been doing or where they are. The video is stop-motion so it is made completely of photographs uploaded into imovie and then edited.

I also included my favorite photos, because they're so funny.

These two arent from the movie, but I thought they were funny.
